The wife just spent a week staying with some Mac-centric friends.
Considering her expressed opinion on Macs, I'm not even going to suggest it.

Using it on the plane isn't an issue.  It's really just going to sit on a
desk; I'm only thinking "laptop" to make getting it to the desk easier.  I
can carry a "laptop" on the plane, while I'd have to ship a desktop
(US$4/lb) or take it as excess baggage (US$whoknows).  Then, a desktop would
take up a lot more room in our little rented cottage, too.

In Quebec, probably.  Here, not so easy.  Not to mention that I already have
a PS/2 Quebecois keyboard....
