[geeks] OCR Software

Anyone have a favorite OCR software? I'm looking for something that
can be used stand-alone,  i.e. doesn't require pages being scanned at
the time the OCR is run. I have a bunch of stuff that was scanned and
I'd like to batch-convert it to text or html.

I've looked at ReadIRIS & OmniPage Pro, but they're a bit pricey (and
don't have downloads for trial versions.)

Any ideas?
