I don't change every 3000 miles.  Everyone I've spoken to has highly 
recommended I don't.  It's an Audi.

The problem is that it takes almost 9 quarts of oil every time, and the 
oil filter is >$25.  That's a big pile of money.  Plus it has a bypass 
filter and doesn't consume much oil.
