That was likely the first one, w/o SATA and with a slightly different CPU
(Celeron 215 vs. 220 in the new version).

I tried to assemble a system with the first (non-SATA) version, and the single
IDE chain didn't work well with my choosen chassis... Having the option of
running a SATA drive would have been helpful...

A friend of mine went to the Intel show and brought back some info on
them months ago.  I'm not much for x86 stuff of late but with a
supported pci card these would make simple Asterisk boxes a slam-
dunk.  To say nothing of small media PCs.
