Yep.  IIRC Cingular's 3G (HSDPA/UMTS) network is available in/around
most major metropolitan areas now, but the iPhone doesn't support it.
I'm not sure why 3G support wasn't included, but for the time being
EDGE is the best you can do on the iPhone.
