This isn't quite what you are asking for, but may get you what you 
need:  The bundled windows backup utility in vista creates a .vhd file, 
which is Virtual PC's hard disk format.  That file will not be bootable 
in VPC AFAIK, but it can be mounted in a virtual machine.
