Which really means that the price of not having one is something you
consider unacceptable - losing a job, typically, if it's work that
imposes such a requirement.  There's always a price associated with the
"nothing" choice, even if it's only not having whatever the thing is.

Oh, duh!  I don't know why I couldn't think of that.  (I think it's in
the second person rather than the third, though: if you choose not to
decide, you still have made a choice.)
