Have had no problems with Powersonic and I think, Panasonic replacement 
batts in the APCs I have (600 days and counting in one of them).

The product liability for making something out of spec or whatnot would 
seem to preclude you getting a bad battery.  Plus, you don't have a 
fluid, more like a gel that is absorbed into a cloth-like fiberglass mat.

If you want, look in the local Yellow Pages for a "Battery Warehouse" or 
similar and check their prices there.  Ask them if they have heard of a 
"Tempest" brand battery.
