They are nice-looking cars, but the current line isn't anything
exceptionally weird. I keep looking at the Citroen C4 Coupe
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_C4), which is about the size and
shape of a Toyota Prius.
Those earlier "rocket ship" Citroens came out in the fifties, so you can
imagine what a sensation they were then. They built over a million of 'em
over 20 years (details at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_DS) but
you hardly ever see one here now. They are around, but are too
"collectible" to be daily drivers. Our garagiste's father has a completely
perfect DS-23 Pallas, the top of the normal line, and, 60 years after it was
designed, it's still a wowser.
What's really weird is that during the 50s and early 60s, Citroen only built
two lines of cars: the tiny, tinny, and cheap 2CV, and the big and
expensive ID/DS line. Nothing in the middle. When they did come out with a
midsized line, it was appallingly ugly, even for a French car of the 60s.
