been watching the shuttle on nasatv; they've been showing bits of
apollo 11 vid recently 'restored' overnight.  today's regular 11am
live bit [ordinarily repeated at 3pm and other times] was a press
conference with the nasa goddard archivists, the guy in charge of
apollo vid, and some others [didn't catch all of it].

they're still in the process of trying to restore the lander vid, but
all they have to work with is scan-converted broadcast tapes.  THEY
LOST THE ORIGINAL SLOWSCAN TAPES[0].  and the very-best 1969 scan
converters were picture-tube-and-camera.

'history and legacy panel' coming up at 1300edt on nasatv public...

[0] original lander cam vid was 325 lines, 10 fps, 500khz they say.
they made more than 1 set, but once 1 was filed in the goddard
archives duplicates were erased.
