Curiouser and curiouser ...
Trying to boot from where I thought I left a Solaris 10 install yields
"No operating system found."
Booting Knoppix works perfectly, but Knoppix fails to see the two boot
disks once booted (although devices were present). lspci sees the 3Ware
9500.
The onboard Adaptec SATA RAID, once RAID mode is enabled, says the boot
disks are perfectly fine, in "excellent" status, and happily created a
mirror from them.
A Kubuntu 8.10 install disk fails to boot beyond initramfs.
This is the sound of me scratching my head. I've left memtest86 running
overnight. It sees the full 4GB of RAM and has found no problems so
far, though it's only on pass 1 test 5 (8% completion of pass 1).
