My laptop is an eMachines M5309.  It's proven entirely serviceable once
I figured out how to disassemble it to clean the clogged heatsink and
learned how to configure for a few of its minor quirks.  It also has the
first non-cramped laptop keyboard I've ever used, and a really very nice
1280x768 TFT screen.

'Course, I need to get a new battery for it when I can spare $75 ... the
one I have is down to about 29% capacity, according to procmeter3.
