[geeks] Upgrading/troubleshooting Athlon64 laptop

Furthest I can get seems to be it'll run (at the lowest available CPU
speed step, 800MHz) with ACPI fan, battery and power supply sensing
enabled, but without cpufreq control or ACPI processor sensing.  Build
ACPI processor and powernow-k8 as modules, boot without them loaded, and
it's fine, just slow as molasses.  Load either module, and it locks up
instantly.  This is frustrating as all get-out.
