Maybe they don't and that's the problem.
X is heavily into "mechanism, not policy". OS X is all about "we know
what makes a good UI; when we want your opinion we'll give it to you".
If your X policy matches OS X's idea of a good UI, you'll probably have
no problem; if it doesn't, I'd be surprised if you _didn't_ have
trouble.
