Yes. But I do it a bit different: I "dig" into the resin just enough to
get to the positive (top) pole of the battery by filing it down from
the top. I disconnect the wire that comes from below from the battery
and solder a wire to it. This goes to the + of the new battery. - of
the new battery gets connected to pin 12 of the chip as this is GND.
This is a minimal invasive method for connecting a new battery.
