Same here - searching for 'vendor' just returns a lot of sites who want
to sell you hard drives.

I had a look for service manuals and ended up going into the ATA command
structure and trying to suss out what the drive was 'saying' - but it
wasn't useful.  What I managed to glean from the above information is
that it appears to be a firmware failure, which doesn't pinpoint the
specific error.  I looked at the CDB and apart from knowing that the
drive was given a WRITE command, I couldn't find anything else.

The SCSI manual (67517c.pdf) above says that ASC 0x80/ASCQ 0x00 means
'General Firmware Error Qualifier'.
