I have setup a Piwik (piwik.org) server for my clients and realize it is complete overkill for the volume of traffic.  Sort of an open source version of Google Analytics.

You can either use a 1-pixel gif in your pages, or add a javascript block to each page served.  If you want to get fancy, you can do much more with it - the piwik.org site has all the docs on how to set it up.

So, if anyone here has a blog , or other site, commercial or otherwise, that would be interested in using it, let me know and I will set you up as a user on the system.
