Indeed, SSDs have much greater shock resistance (making them good in
portable and removable applications), and much lower power consumption
(making them good ... well ... pretty much in every use case, really).
As I understand it, the idle power consumption of an SSD is not zero,
but it's close. A Samsung 860 Pro 2TB is rated at 2W *average* power
consumption, 4.5W maximum, and 1500G shock resistance. A Seagate
Barracuda LP 2TB drive draws 5.2 watts *when idle*, and up to 6.4W when
reading. I've seen numbers over 12W on other Seagate models. And you
hit a spinning-rust drive with 150G, once, it's probably dead.
