OK cool. Thanks for replying anyway :-)

I'm a family man now you may assume where my priorities are and that I
don't have as much time for this kind of stuff as I used to. I tried to
set up my own business, buy flying solo didn't work out to my advantage.

Anyway, are you an Illumos/OpenSolaris developer? Or user? I would
LOVE to run Solaris with ZFS natively paired up with my copious free time.

As for ZFS on Linux or *BSD, I have no interest, really. LVM+XFS or
Btrfs is where it's at for me on Linux. NetBSD is interesting to me for
other reasons; and with OpenBSD you will have an uninspired file server.
  And as for Stratis, erm.

I live in a tiny central London apartment with a 5 year-old daughter and
my partner her mother. The primary and secondary backup servers are a
luxury because they are on only for a short amount of time each day.

If anybody knows of a compact cabinet or rack for about 12U total,
please let me know. Dampening of acoustical vibration would be a major,
major positive factor if possible.

Kind regards,

Andrew
