[geeks] R720 as NAS

So I got my R720, and reflashing the Perc H710 to JBOD mode was a
doddle. Ran into two minor and easily resolved issues, one of them
expected, the other "not unexpected, happens sometimes, not serious".
So then I started doing a Gentoo Linux install on it to build it into a
new NAS. And got about halfway through, while thinking about the
shortcomings of Linux NFS and how I was going to configure Samba to do
what I wanted it to do. (And found by the way that the boot SSDs from
the X4540 are still perfectly fine, it just lost the ability to talk to
them.)
... And decided, ya know what, fuggit, I'm'a just use Solaris 11.4 and
be ONE AND DONE. Especially when I'm under time pressure to return the
smegging QNAP, and now that 11.4 has a GNU userspace right out of the
box so that barely need to mess with third-party packages at all. Just
install the OS, create my zpools, install Developer Suite, install MySQL
for libraries, build and install Bacula, and I'm in business.
Because Solaris 11.4 is a hell of a NAS OS *right out of the box.*
