I don't think it's limited to Solaris 11.4 or 11.*. I've seen this
behavior on Solaris 9 and 10 too.
I believe this behavior is rooted in an implicit assumption and
configuration in support thereof, that /somewhere/ the home directories
will exist in /export/home and be exported via NFS /and/ that these
exported home directories will automatically be auto-mounted on /home as
needed.
I've found more than a little bit of Solaris that assumes, and is
configured as if, that it will be used in a networked environment of
multiple systems, with the /home auto-mounter being just one of the
symptoms.
As others have said, adjust or disable the auto-mounter. Or, embrace
the auto-mounter and use it.
