MAME has been adding non-arcade hardware for quite some time. It started in 2015 with the merge of MESS, which brought many vintage home computers into MAME.  Since then they've added stuff like the SGI Indy, Korg M1 (music keyboard), HP 9845C, and Fairlight CMI (early music sampling work station).
