  They're of similar generations.  Processor clock speed is not a measure of
system performance.

  To go any faster with a Sun I'd have to go to an Ultra or something, and be
stuck in Solaris hell.

   ...which is blown off the desktop by a more modern SGI piece.

  Don't get me wrong...I'm a Sunaholic.  Always have been.  But for my desktop
machine I'm now sold on previous-generation SGIs.  That's all I'm trying to say.
I still use (and recommend) Suns in the computer room.
