Actually, the part I like best is the way we have the Virtual PC set up to
heal itself, no matter how bad the students try to screw it up.  The "PCs"
all pull a fresh hard drive image file off the server on shutdown,
everything on the network side is set static so we can tell which kids are
hitting the porn sites, and it is all done entirely automatically.  I can
totally reconstruct any machine in the room if it can see the network
without leaving my desk, if it can't see the network I just have to stick
in a CD and boot it.  For anyone on the list maintaining a lab of Macs,
you need to at least look at a program called Assimilator, it can totally
rebuild the Mac it is running on. including moving itself to the trash
while it is running.

The fun part was automatically assigning Windows machine names without any
kind of Wins server, or any NT products at all.

I think the reason I like the Macs so well is they make it much easier to
move applications etc. between machines on the network, there is no
registry, just move the files and it works, most stuff without a restart,
but any Windows product the best you can hope for is remote installs, or
complete drive images, and slightly different hardware makes that
difficult.
