Well only thing I would suggest
boot single user ... stand alone .... maint mode ...

Which ever name you've learned it by doing
the boot -sw Think it is on these
jump into etc and look through the boot files for what ever comes after swapon (I think from the message)
Course I'm usually wrong at guessing whats where.

Find out the offending line(s) and edit it out....

Then it dies...could it be timing out on the ethernet or something?  I
