Is it really a PROM issue, then?  Is it a known problem with R5k boxen? 
Could I take a PROM of the same revision out of an R4400 box and fit it
into the R5k?

Does anyone have an "evaluation" CD image of IRIX 6.5.x that I could
borrow to test out on this machine? ;)  I'd like to see if that boots
properly.
