[SunRescue] 3/80 and Mono Video

Hello all,
I got in my new NVRAM, dropped it in and went to fire up the machine to
reset all the data. However, I've got some video problems.

I have an mg4 frame buffer (with both connectors and the right back plate)
with a Sun 20M1 monitor connected to the 13W3 port, but the two don't seem
to want to sync correctly. I get two or three very fuzzy images overlapping
each other. I didn't see anything relating to this in the FAQ's. Is this

a) common and fixable? Is there a simple setting that will fix this?
or
b) do I go looking for a different frame buffer?
or
c) is the monitor somehow wrong?
