Nope, Solaris 7 is the last version that will run on the sun4c
architecture.

You can run the following:
SunOS (last version was 4.1.4)
Solaris (up to version 2.7, "Solaris 7")
NetBSD (www.netbsd.org)
OpenBSD (www.openbsd.org)
Linux (www.redhat.com, www.debian.org, etc)

Of course; it depends on what you're using the Solaris 8 server *to serve*.

Depends on what CPUs you have in the SS10, and what you're doing with it
(e.g., what KIND of server).

This all dependds, again, on what you want to *do* with the machines.

Of course, but again, it dependds on what KIND of server you're talking
about.

I recommend you check out
http://www.sunhelp.org/books-amazon.php3.
"UNIX In A Nutshell, System V Edition" and
"Essential System Administration, 2nd Edition" plus
the "UNIX System Administration Handbook" are
what I consider must-haves for any new systems admin.
