OK, 

that sounds like I am on the right way ;-) But
where can I get such OBP(?) and do I have to kind 
of "flash" it to my NVRAM or where does SUN 
store the OBP prom?

Many questions, I know but I am a real newbie to
SUN.

Chris,

The lates OBP 1.x version for the IPC was 1.7.3. The lates 2.x
prom was 2.9.24. However you will probably want a 2.x one.
