Hi all,
I have now fitted 5 SUN9.0G drives into a Sparc Storage Array (SSA) 100
series, replacing a stripe of the existing 1Gb drives. I have built a file
system on them and have been using them in testing for 2 weeks and in a
production environment for a further week. So far no problems!
The disks are a mix of:
Fujitsu MAB3091SC
IBM DNES-309170
Seagate ST39173WC
They are 1 inch high and also fit E450 and RSM2000 drive bays.
The Seagate disks gave me real problems, as they came in 3 different
flavours and sizes, all with the same part number. Size varied from 8.00Gb
to 8.43Gb, a real pain when trying to build a raid array. Eventually my
supplier replaced them all with ones that included the phrase SUN9.0G on the
packing. There really should be a way of low level formatting the drives to
fix this.
I hope this information helps some other packrat out there. There is life in
your SSA yet!
