[SunRescue] using a Sun monitor on two machines

Question - off topic sort of...

I want to use a rescued (see - not that off topic) Sun GDM-20#20 monitor 
simultaneously on my Sun and a PC (with adapter cable.)  While the machines are 
turned on, can I just unplug it from one and plug it into another, or is this a 
Very Bad Idea?

As a side note - I do this all the time with a PC monitor between two PCs.

I guess I should buy a good switch for this - found one at Blackbox, but it is 
expensive...
