well new era begins... i spoke with the department that retired the machine 
and as expected... no specific info regarding my problem... however i did 
get a nice boxed set of manuals. i don't know how many complete sets of 
these there are around so i am glad to be a reference for those in need... 
and in the mean time i will try and plough into this machine... somehow, 
someway... looks like there is (sun?)light at the end of the tunnel.
