Tip: "killall" on IRIX and Solaris doesent do the same thing it does
on Linux. 8-)
(I found this out the hard way a couple of years ago..
"Uhm, the CVS server just crashed, I'm bringing it back up..." - boss
asked me later "it didnt crash, did it?" "... um nope. killall under
irix does what it says.. kills everything..." he laughed..)
Also, when killing off user's processes (by "su - <user>", "kill -9 -1"),
watch your prompt carefully. Never hit ctrl-D too many times and do
# kill -9 -1
I had to drive to the office and reboot the box.
