I live in south central PA, 30 minutes outside of Harrisburg.
DC metro is an excellent place to pick one up, check the Washington Post
Sunday classifieds.
The years to look for are 81-85, with 84-85 preferable (other years have
tranny issues at high miles).
One caveat: Before you look for a MB, find a mechanic you can trust. The
dealer will put you in the poorhouse. Ask folks who are driving them who
works on theirs. Get references. Have any car checked out by the mechanic
BEFORE you buy. They are generally very reliable, and I have found mine to be
inexpensive to repair. operate and maintain. You do NOT want to replace or
rebuild a MB diesel engine. It can easily cost more than the book value of
the car.
