It totally depends on the model of the monitor. I believe (I may be wrong
here) that the 17" ones work on some systems. Most of the time the
Sync-on-green issue is what stops the cross-usage from SGI to Sun and back.

i didn't really read this whole thread, but am i to understand that a
stock SGI monitor with a 13w3 type connector on the back will not work
with, say, an IPX? i need to know before i might pick up a spare from
work for home.
