On SGI/MIPS hardware, certainly. No other OS is even vaguely close to
mature on this hardware, and it's unlikely that the graphics processors
will ever be fully supported outside of IRIX due to the highly proprietary
nature of the hardware.
IRIX has its fair share of funkiness but it's quite capable. It has
proven to be quite scalable at the high end (ccNUMA boxes) and can be
hardened effectively from a security standpoint.
The SGI x86 boxes are an entirely different story.
