I'd have to disagree with that.   I've spent a lot of money on racing cars 
and computers since I got married.

I do think you'd better get a lot of your purchases out of the way before 
you have kids.   I voluntarily sold my last race car 
http://racing.pullig.com when my wife got pregnant with my son.  Not 
completely because of costs, but because I planned to spend a lot of time 
at home with my son, like my father did with me.  Although I kind of miss 
driving at insane speeds, I would miss watching my son grow up more.  I 
enjoy being part of a family.

BTW, my wife likes to spend money on quality home entertainment equipment 
and DVDs...I'll just have to live with her quirks. ;-)
