I expect that they chose 15,000usd purely on the basis that bids above this
amount have to be backed up by your Credit Card number, and so it is a
deturant against fake bids.

The last paragraph added yesterday is interesting; it mentions something
about various hobbist parts being available from 10usd; which might imply
that it is merely an advent; unless somebody actually /does/ want the whole
lot.
