Not to my knowledge. The SGI-drive-firmware thing I believe is specific to
Challenge RAID. If what I've heard is true, the same applies to all OEM
Clariion arrays; that tweak (custom drive firmware) is specifically
requested by Clariion, for reasons unknown.
