The newer IDE cables are keyed.  The only problem is when they key them by
blocking out pins instead of using the raised notching slot.  This means I
can't turn the cable around if the plug distribution is improperly
distanced on one end.  In addition, some boards have all the pins
including the dummies so with a keyed cable like that you either have to
drill it or break a pin off.
