a VUP is a Vax Unit of Performance. it's a relative scale with an 11/780 being
equal to 1. so the 700A at 40VUP is 40x faster than an 11/780.
just for reference, my /300s are 8VUP, the /400 is 16VUP and the /500 is 24VUP.
a 310076 is, uhm, 2.8VUP? not sure, too lazy to look.
on the other hand, a MV2000 is 0.9 VUP, so not even as fast as an 11/780 (quite
a bit smaller however *G*)
