I would remove and re-install all the physical bits (RAM, HD, whatever SBUS
cards) and then clean the contacts and reseat. Also, *any* chips that are
not soldered onto the MB should be pressed down, I suspect a heat issue.

Can you take the internal drive out an drun the box w/o an internal HD?
(assuming you get it to boot again) If you are stuck, these folks have IPX
bases for $15/ea (empty): http://www.compsyscon.com/prod05.htm .

(They also have Weitek PowerUPs and 32 Meg daughter cards... $45/ea)

Hey all,
I have a Sparcstation IPX which seems to be dying a slow death.  I've been
using it as a mail server for the past 6-10 months or so, and lately it will
seem to just shut down.  By that I mean suddenly the machine is
unresponsive, there's nothing on the screen, and the only way to correct the
problem is to power off/on the system.
However, last night, the system wouldn't come back up.  I've tried letting
the system stay off for a while (I shut it off around 2am last night, and
just tried turning it back on now (11:30am).  But no joy.  I'm wondering if
maybe the memory modules have gone bad, I did try swapping them out (I only
have two simms installed).  I ordered two simms last night JIK, but I'm
kinda at a loss at where to look.
In terms of where it seems to stop, I power on the machine, it beeps.  The
keyboard goes through it's litte self test with the Caps Lock-Num Lock
lights.  The lights go off, I hear the drives spin up, and then nothing.
Normally at this point the montior would come on with the BIOS doing it's
memory check.

Does anyone have any ideas?  If you need more info let me know.  I don't
want to junk this machine, but I need to get it powered up at least once to
get some information off of it.
