What kind of vax are we talking about?

uVAX2s have their serial ports wired so that
you *don't* need a null-modem, while others you
do need one.... If you're talking about MMJ you
can use the 'hack' of breaking a tab off an
rj-11 phone connector and use a "standard"
rj-11->serial converter. IIRC, the MMJ-based
vaxen required a null-modem cable, but I could
be wrong.
