IIRC, if you run it on an SMP box, vmware itself will be SMPed however
the host OS does this normally, *but* vmware only ever emulates a single
CPU machine. What this means in practice is that vmware will take one
CPU for its pretty-much-exclusive use, which is, IMO, the right thing to
do anyway.
