On a trip up to San Jose from L.A., I managed to pack 8 of the large Sun
rackmount drive trays into my '78 Dodge Diplomat (4D sedan), plus 2
passengers and a bunch of extra drives. That included about 60 5.25" FH
hard drives with a total weight of well over half a ton.
Fortunately I had the HD police package rear suspension. Unfortunately on
the trip home I had a tread separation on the front tire and had to change
to the spare. The only place I could find to park was on a hill (coming
down I80 and I didn't want to drive farther on the bad tire) so we used a
pair of the drive trays to chock the wheels before jacking it up.
I'm happy to report that Sun rackmount drive trays keep a 5000lb vehicle
from rolling down a hill very well.
