I think an '040 based Mac will have trouble doing decoding at a decent
rate unless you heavily buffer.  An LX will just barely manage it under
ideal circumstances, but I wouldn't recommend it either.  Go for the
SS5/85, I used to play mp3's on my desktop SS5/70 all the time while
running X, netscape and some other stuff.
