1..I'm in the UK where 2nd hand stuff is a bit more expensive ($2300
   is the cheapest price I've found recently for a low-end Octane). Yes
   I could ship from the US (which is what I did for my 1st I^2), but
   I'd rather not deal with the hassle.

2..Whilst I do have a job, I work in the public sector (for a
   University) where salaries are not impressive, and things are
   tight at the moment so very little is affordable.

3..I'm due to move in March/April, so I'd rather not add to the large
   collection of stuff hanging around at the moment.

4..I'd want something a little better than a low end Octane ... at
   least something with texture h/w
