[rescue] Silly NetBSD question

I've finally managed to get NetBSD onto my SS2. Now, I'm finding myself in
culture shock. I'm used to admining linux, and using Solaris and Irix. Never
used a BSD before, and am finding myself lost.
For instance, I created myself a user account to telnet to (then realized that
telnet and ssh are enabled by default), but when I log on with that account,
and do an su, I am told:
su: you are not listed in the correct secondary group (wheel) to su root.
Err, how do I add secondary groups to a user? I've heard of the before, but
have never had need to add one before since linux lets any old user su to
root.
