Lemme let you in on a secret.  "HI-VAL" brand is "whatever vendor we can
get it from cheapest this week".  You can buy two "identical" HI-VAL products,
get them home, and for example, get two entirely different CD-RW drives -
both with the same speed/specs, but made by entirely different vendors.
