[rescue] backups?

If you are feeling really hard-core about it, there's
a nice collection of backup info on free backup software
at:

I prefer dump for tape backups, though I regularly use cpio to
duplicate partitions/directory structures where most people
would use tar (sys admin confession: I haven't used tar enough
except for -xvf, so I always have to re-read the dang man page,
forget that--use cpio. Sad, I know). And then there's remote
backups--rsync for that. :-)
